Guided walking tour of the city. Explore its famous Provençal market, Le Fort Carré, built in the 16th century, overlooking Antibes where Napoleon was imprisoned and nearly shot by Robespierre. The “Fort Carré” is the first stone rampart absorbing the shock of bullets built against pirate attacks. An invention of General Vauban whose name the port bears: Port de Vauban, known for its quay of billionaires hosting the largest private yachts in the world with a breathtaking view of the Cap d’Antibes immortalized by the American writer F. Scott Fitzgerald.
Then off to Cannes, the third largest city on the French Riviera and one of the most famous cities in the world for its Film Festival in May with parties and celebrities that arrive from around the world. You will have time to explore the Croisette, the beaches and have lunch in a delicious restaurant in the old town before leaving for Saint-Paul-de-Vence, village perched above the Mediterranean and ‘jewel of Provence’ where many painters and artists lived there.
The artists stayed most of the time at the Colombe d’Or, a very famous restaurant today, and for lack of financial means, paid for their stay with their paintings. This is where you can still find some original works by these artists! You will have the opportunity to explore the medieval village and its galleries and enjoy centuries of history and artistic creativity.
